Sorry for the late post. I was dealing with family matters this week.
I don't know that I was really too impressed with this episode. We saw Jack together with Kate. We saw Jack's slide into mental and emotional instability. And we saw Jack begin his drug addiction.
The most important thing, in my opinion, in this episode was when Claire saw her father. We have recently been shown that ghosts may be real on this show. Although I don't know why Claire would leave Aaron like that, I think she is ok for now, and that Christian is going to tell her that Jack is her half brother.
When Jack said to Kate that she is not related to Aaron, I think we were meant to think it is ironic, and that Jack doesn't know that he is related. However, I believe that he does know. I think Claire found out from their father, and she told Jack. That would begin to explain why Jack didn't want to see Aaron at first. There was some kind of emotional baggage there.
Now, what is the deal with who raises Aaron? At first, Claire is told that no one but her could raise him. Now that Clair is unable to, we learn that Jack, specifically can not.

Actually, I thought this was a strong episode as I really needed to understand how Jack could go from the strong character that we see on the island to a weak drug addicted loser in a short span of time. I am not sure that Claire is safe because I just can't see here leaving Aaron out in the open like that. The whole Aaron storyline is not making sense to me.
As far as Jack finding out that Claire is his sister, I think you are on to something. It certainly would explain a lot about why Jack doesn't want anything to do with Aaron. Maybe Jack isn't supposed to raise him because he will start Aaron down the same path as his Dad sent him?
I don't recall a promise made by Kate to Sawyer...do you? I think that must be coming up. His parent's are both dead...so who could Kate be meeting? Also, I found it interesting that Jack mentions that Sawyer chose to stay on the island...so we know that some of the non-Oceanic 6 are alive. We know why Locke and what's her face (the woman with cancer) won't leave...but why wouldn't Sawyer leave (more secrets)?
... a promise made by Kate to Sawyer...

How about the woman he got pregnant? He has been sending money for his kid. Wow, and Kate has met her too. I wonder if they figured that out before she met with her.
