Cabin Fever

My goodness! How old is Richard Alpert, anyway? So he has been watching Locke all his life. One thing that this tells me is that whoever has been manipulating everyone to be on flight 815 knew that it would crash on the island, and that these people would survive.

Matthew Abaddon, the orderly, was also interested in Locke (he advised Locke to go on a 'Walkabout'). Abaddon appears to work for Widmore, so Alpert and Abaddon are not working together (unless Abaddon is a spy, working for the others). With these guys pestering Locke all his life, it's no wonder he thinks he has some destiny.

We also saw that Locke has had a fascination with knifes since he was a child. I wonder which object he was supposed to recognize as belonging to him.

In the cabin, Christian looked pretty darn real to me. I still wonder whether he is really dead. Of course, if he was alive, how could he convince Claire to leave Aaron in the woods like that? As a ghost, perhaps he is manipulating her supernaturally or something...

Am I going to have to go back and figure out whose side each minor character is on now? Alpert is with Jacob, Abaddon is with Widmore(?), Christian Shephard is with Jacob, Libby is with Widmore, Kelvin Inman is with Widmore (Kelvin is the one who taught Sayid to torture, and Desmond to push the button). This is one big chess game between Jacob and Widmore, and I don't know who to root for.

Sorry for not participating lately. If more than a couple days go by, I forget all the details! But I sure appreciate reading yours and Andy's comments, Roy. I don't know everyone's name (as I just don't catch them and/or retain them), so I appreciate you clarifying who you're referring to. thanks.

I really enjoyed this episode. As usual, I mostly have questions, but given the episode was a whole week ago, no one will probably (bother to) have answers.

We had seen Alpert at the same age in an earlier episode when Ben was a boy. John isn't much older than Ben, is he? Richard never changes. It'll be interesting to find out what he is. We haven't seen him in the present for quite a while, have we?

How did John know that Ben was the person who put all the dead bodies in the ditch?

Was the mother of the family that John was with at age five the same unwed mother who gave birth to him? I don't remember if he was raised in a foster family or not.

Did you catch the picture of the smoke monster that John drew as a small boy? I, too, wonder what object he was supposed to pick. He chose a jar (of what?), the compass and the knife. I don't remember what the other articles were. One was a book, but I couldn't catch the title.

Here we/I thought most/all of John's problems stemmed from his unresolved issue with his biological father. Who knew all kinds of people have been --cking with him all his life?!

Ben looked very concerned when John found the map in the pocket of Horace's corpse. Any significance to that? He seems to be quite resigned to handing over the leadership of the island to John ("my time is over"). No more dreams. It explains why Ben's off the island in the future. What is he agitating for once he's off the island, I wonder?

I can't stand that a--hole on the boat who's the leader of the bad guys. Everything about him is yukky.

Yeah, the whole deal with Christian is weird. I can't figure it out. Maybe more clues tonight. Although I'm out all evening so won't be able to watch it, probably until Sunday. I look forward to your comments, Roy and Andy.
