Hurley said "I'm one of the Oceanic 6". So six of them get off the island. Jack, Kate, Hurley, and 3 others. So the question is, is everyone else dead, or still stranded on the island? If they are still alive, why don't the 6 tell anyone about them?
I was doing some thinking about the last episode. The question about why Jack was so shaken up about the death of someone who was neither friend nor family. I was thinking that perhaps it was someone who Jack believed wasn't supposed to die for some reason. Of course, we now know that Jack and Hurley (and presumably the other 4 as well) are keeping silent about something, and they are feeling guilty. So perhaps the person who died killed himself because of the guilt, and that amplified Jack's guilt.
So if everyone else is dead, what does Hurley need to do to help them? Tell their stories? Go back for them?
Notice that Hurley said about "It" wanting them to go back. I wonder what odd things happen to them after they are rescued. Odder than the things that he would hallucinate, considering that he knows that he hallucinates. I assume that "It" is the island.
I still think it is possible that at the end of the season, after seeing all the problems that result from it, Desmond will flash back to the beginning, and stop Charley from turning off the jamming signal.
Oh, yeah. And why wasn't Kate still wanted by the police. Did she get a pardon for being a survivor?
Any thoughts?
(Later...) I just had another thought (yes, Andy, it did hurt). There was a cover-up about the crash, presumably by Oceanic. They claimed they found the remains of flight 815 on the bottom of the ocean. Perhaps the six were convinced to go along with the cover-up, and not tell the whole story. Which could mean that the rest of the survivors are still on the island, waiting to be rescued.

Thanks, Roy, for all your ideas and comments. I'm really late in checking in. And, I actually watched it in real time last week. Where is everybody else?!
I have more questions than I do answers for yours (no surprise there, huh?) Who do you think the other 3 are? I assumed everyone else was dead; I like your idea that they might still be stranded on the island.
I figured the person in the coffin was Ben. Who else would Jack be so conflicted about?
I wondered the same thing about Kate and why she isn't running from the law anymore. Do you suppose she's living with Sawyer?
Why would there be a cover up about the plane crash? Parts of the plane fell into the ocean, so saying it was found at the bottom doesn't mean anything? Or did they say it was found with all bodies in it?
Sure miss discussing it in person with you, Roy! Hope you'll keep the blog up. I'll be more timely in checking in.
The person in the coffin. I don't believe that Ben would leave the island. Neither would John Locke. Michael?
The other 3. I doubt if Rose will leave the island because of her cancer being in remission. Sun, on the other hand needs to get off the island, so maybe Sun and Jin. Sawyer being with Kate makes sense, too.
I suggested that Oceanic was behind the cover about the plane crash, but that's not what I really believe. I think it's the people who work with the "others". They don't want the island to be found. Yes, part of the plane well into the ocean, but it was in sight of land. If they really found the plane, they would have found the island, and searched it for survivors. What we learned from Naomi, and Sawyers father, is that they found the plane, and there where no survivers. And I think Naomi said, or implied, that all passengers where accounted for (I don't know that for a fact, but that's what I seem to recall).
Since we don't know why Naomi was really there, I don't think we can be certain that Naomi's report of the plane being found and all passenger's being accounted for was truly reported. Good point about finding the plane meaning they would've found the island.
I wondered the same thing about Kate - isn't she still a fugitive? Did she assume someone else's identity (a stretch, I know).
